2. Spectrum is the debut solo album from jazz fusion drummer Billy Cobham and was influenced by the music of Miles Davis with whom Cobham had collaborated with in the past. This is a 70's reissue. Style: Fusion, Jazz-Funk, Jazz-Rock. Vinyl: VG / VG+ (surface warp on the first track of each side plays through fine just causes the tonearm to jerk a little, some consistent surface noise throughout.).

However, Robert Christgau offered a dissenting review for Creem magazine, calling Cobham "Mahavishnu's muscle-headed muscle man" and saying, "Despite a few tough minutes this is basically slick, gimmicky, one-dimensional—in a word, undemanding. All of which may make him a star." Scott Yanow was more impressed by the record.

7. Apr 17,  · Spectrum always found it's way into our party mixes. We thought it was great music for dancing. The line up on this album was magical, from Joe Farrell to Jan Hammer and from Ron Carter to Ray Barretto. Still, Tommy Bolin and Billy really were in sync on this record. Tommy Bolin's teaser has been re-released as "Teaser Deluxe" and is a must have/5().
